WEST DENNIS – Around 12:45 Sunday afternoon the driver of a Mercedes sedan traveling east on Route 28 apparently failed to see a line of cars ahead stopped in front of Cuffy’s General Store and slammed into the rear end of a Ford Fusion SE sedan.
When the crash occurred, the Mercedes’ airbag deployed. Dennis Fire Rescue medics checked out the driver, who was traveling alone, but he did not require transport to the hospital. The male and female occupants of the Ford were not injured.
The Mercedes sustained moderate front-end damage and a fluid leak. Dennis firefighters applied absorbent material to the roadway to limit the liquid’s spread. The Ford sedan (at right) appeared to have suffered only minor damage.
Route 28 was closed to traffic in both directions for a period of time until the scene could be cleared.
The Dennis Police Department is investigating the crash.
