EASTHAM – The Eastham Fire Department presented its 2016 Docudrama/Mock Crash Tuesday morning to the high school senior class on the dangers of drunk/distracted driving. It also served as a multi-agency drill for motor vehicle crash response. Students from the Nauset senior class played the victims–from a fatality to those with critical and serious injuries–as well as the arrested operator.

Agencies involved included the police and fire departments from Eastham, Orleans, Wellfleet and Brewster; Nickerson Funeral Home; Cape Cod Hospital; Cape & Islands District Attorney’s office; and Silver Cloud Towing.

Following the demonstration, a number of speakers addressed the students in the high school auditorium including:

  • Nauset Schools Administration
  • Fire & Police Department Officials
  • Cape & Islands District Attorney’s office
  • Cape Cod Hospital Physicians
  • A life experience of a family member lost to drunk/distracted driving

The presentation was so real that a couple of students reportedly fainted during the event.
