Updated: Scooter operator killed in crash in Falmouth identified

FALMOUTH – A scooter operator was killed a crash in Falmouth sometime after 2:30 PMWednesday. The crash happened at the intersection of Sandwich Roadcand John Parker Road. Falmouth Police reported a car and scooter collided. The victim was rushed to Falmouth Hospital. A MedFlight helicopter was called but later canceled. The crash is under investigation by Falmouth Police.

Early Wednesday evening, Falmouth Police reported that on Wednesday at approximately 2:50 PM, members of the Falmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of John Parker Road and Sandwich Road in regard to a motor vehicle crash involving a motor scooter. Upon arrival officers located the operator of the scooter, a 70 year old East Falmouth man, on the ground. He received multiple serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Falmouth Hospital for treatment. The operator of the second vehicle involved, remained on scene and was cooperative with the police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department and Massachusetts State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

Falmouth Police reported Thursday morning that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.

Friday afternoon police identified the scooter operator as Richard Zielinski, 70, of East Falmouth.
