Mulch fire extends to building in Marstons Mills

MARSTONS MILLS – Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire (COMM) reports they received a 911 call for a reported Automatic Fire Alarm at 84 Industrial Road (Hayden Building Movers Inc.). Shortly after, COMM Fire received a 911 call from the neighboring business for a reported structure fire at that address. Occupants of the neighboring business discharged a dry chemical extinguisher into the mulch/brush fire which had extended up the front side of the building. Two employees of Hayden Building Movers Inc., who were working behind the building, were alerted by the fire alarm and extinguished the fire with a garden hose. Engine crews from Centerville, Osterville, and Cotuit responded, wet down the area and checked for interior extension. Barnstable Police controlled traffic in the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
