TRURO – From Truro Police: “Investigators from the Truro Police Department obtained an Arrest Warrant for Agapito Canela, 26, of Provincetown, for Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 or Older, and Open and Gross Lewdness Subsequent Offense.
On Friday, Investigators received information that Canela was currently at a location in Wellfleet. Members of the Truro and Wellfleet Police Departments responded to that location to serve the arrest warrant. Upon arrival, it was determined that Canela fled the area, just prior to their arrival. A secure perimeter was established with officers from Truro, Wellfleet, and National Park Service.
Approximately 45 minutes in to the search, Officers were able to locate Canela with the assistance of Lifeguards and beachgoers on Newcomb Hollow Beach. Canela was placed in custody without incident and escorted to the beach parking lot. Canela was transported to the Truro Police Department for processing and later transported to Orleans District Court for arraignment.
