Mass State Police/CWN

NANTUCKET – From Mass State Police: A motor vehicle stop on Nantucket Friday morning led to the arrest of a man on gun charges.

At about 7:55 A.M., Trooper Kevin Bates was on patrol on Milk Street when he observed a black Lexus being operated by a man who was believed to have a suspended driver’s license. Trooper Bates confirmed that the suspension was still in effect and stopped the vehicle on Prospect Street.

The operator, Amis Carlisle, 37, of Nantucket was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. During an inventory of his motor vehicle, Trooper Bates located a Kel-Tec KSG 12-gauge dual-barrel tactical shotgun inside the vehicle. It was determined that Carlisle was not properly licensed to be in possession of that firearm and was therefore additionally charged with the following offenses:

1. Possession of a firearm without a license
2. Having an unsecured firearm in a vehicle
3. Improper storage of a firearm

Carlisle was booked at the Nantucket Police Department. He was scheduled for arraignment in Nantucket District Court.
