UPDATE: Cambridge woman pulled from Long Pond in Wellfleet passes away

WELLFLEET – From Wellfleet Police: On Saturday at approximately 5:12 PM, the Wellfleet Police Department received a phone call reporting a possible body floating in Long Pond.  Wellfleet Police immediately informed the Wellfleet Fire Department and both departments responded to the area.  Wellfleet Police Officers responded to the area of Kemp Circle in Wellfleet where two swimmers had located an unresponsive 77-year-old female from Cambridge.  Wellfleet Police and Fire personnel immediately began performing CPR on this individual and she was subsequently transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Wellfleet Fire Department with assistance from the Truro Fire Department.

Late Sunday morning, Wellfleet Police reported the woman passed away at the hospital. The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office is handling the case. No foul play is suspected.

On Monday, Wellfleet Police and the D.A.s office identified the victim as Eva Travers, 77, of Cambridge, MA.
