New regulations to be strictly enforced at Dennis beaches

DENNIS – From Dennis Police: Now that the beach season is upon us, the Town of Dennis would like to remind people visiting Town beaches of the following beach regulations:

  • No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on the Town’s beaches or in the Town’s parking areas at ANY TIME.
  • No glass containers or bottles shall be allowed on the beach or in the parking areas at ANY TIME.
  • No smoking will be permitted on the beaches or in the beach parking areas at ANY TIME.
  • The full list of the Town of Dennis Beach regulations may be found online at:

To help ensure that Town residents and visitors have a safe and positive experience at our Town Beaches, to protect the public safety and to curtail unlawful underage drinking, the Town of Dennis Beach Department staff members will be conducting searches of coolers and other containers in order to enforce the “no alcoholic beverages” and “no glass containers” beach department regulations.  Signs are also installed at various locations which state “No Alcohol allowed on town property. All containers subject to search”. All Town beaches will be subject to searches for alcohol and glass containers. As people approach the public entrances to the beaches, besides the posted signs, they will be advised that their container/cooler is subject to search for alcohol and glass containers and will be advised if they don’t want their container searched they can remove it from Town Property, but they can’t bring it on the beach.

The Police Department will also be conducting additional patrols at Town beaches to ensure that residents and visitors comply with the Town’s Beach Regulations at all times.
