BARNSTABLE – Barnstable County Probate Court officers spotted a gun inside a briefcase Wednesday morning as it was being screened at the entrance. Barnstable police said the owner, a 53 year old Chatham man, was properly licensed to carry and had forgotten the weapon was inside the case. Court officers secured the gun while the unidentified man proceeded with his business inside the court. No charges will be filed, according to Barnstable Police Sgt. Eric Drifmeyer.
