NY man accused of driving drunk to Yarmouth Police station

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Tuesday at approximately 9:32PM, Patrol Officers Jason Batchelder, Andrew Coville, and Erica Wenberg were dispatched to 9 Windemere Road in West Yarmouth for a disturbance.

Officers arrived and found a woman screaming and a male talking. Both had been drinking and were under the influence of alcohol. The female was ultimately placed into protective custody due to her extreme unruliness and alcohol intoxication and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.

The male was cooperative and advised to stay home.

After completing the booking procedure on the female, Officers began their report writing when they were advised that the male from the home they were just at had driven his vehicle to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.

The man approached the lobby window and admitted that he had driven his Jeep here and wanted to get his girlfriend out of jail.

The man who was identfied as Alexander Lekakis, 29, of Hudson, NY was promptly given a series of field sobriety tests which he failed and was placed under arrest and was handcuffed and then walked into the booking area. Lekakis was charged with Operating under the influence of liquor (2nd offense.

Mid Cape Collision arrived shortly after and towed away the Jeep.

Lekakis was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in the Barnstable District Court.
