VIDEO: One critically injured in two-vehicle crash on Route 6 in Eastham

EASTHAM
– One person was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash in Eastham just after noon Friday. The crash happened on Route 6 at Oak Road just east of the Brackett Road lights. A Jeep Wrangler Unlimited appeared to have collided with a Hyundai Sonata sedan. Eastham Police say a Subaru sedan was also involved in the crash.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver of the Hyundai, Peter Nguyen of Dunstable, MA from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life. Nguyen was taken to the Marconi site in South Wellfleet to meet a MedFlight helicopter for transport to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The driver of the Jeep, Scott Duncan Jr. of Richmond, VA, and the driver of the Subaru, Jenny Miller of Boston, were not seriously injured.

Eastham Police called for the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council (CCRLEC) Crash Reconstruction Team to investigate the crash. Eastham Police report that the team believes preliminarily that the Hyundai was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 6 from Oak Road when it was struck by the Jeep Wrangler, which was traveling southbound on Route 6.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office took photographs at the scene. Traffic was slowed but able to snake around both sides of the scene.
