WEST BARNSTABLE – Officials say it was a miracle no serious injuries occurred in a collision involving a cement truck Friday afternoon. The crash happened on Route 6 eastbound between exits 4 and 5 at the Sandwich town line. The cement truck then continued off the road down an embankment. Despite the heavy damage to the SUV, only one person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The cement mixer was so far down the embankment that officials removed it the Service Road that runs alongside the highway. Traffic was heavily backed up in the area. State Police are investigating the crash.
