HARWICH
– On Saturday at approximately 6:45 p.m., Harwich Police and Harwich Fire-Rescue were dispatched to Route 124 and Crestview Drive for a two-car motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, first responders found a Jeep Wrangler with heavy front-end damage was located on Route 124 near the intersection of Crestview Drive with the driver still in the vehicle, and a Lexus SUV with rear end damage located about 400 feet away on the corner of Har-Wood Ave at Route 124. It appeared that the Jeep had rear-ended the Lexus at that location and then continued south on Route 124 where it finally stopped near Crestview.

The driver of the Jeep was evaluated by paramedics and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver and passenger of the Lexus appeared uninjured.

Traffic on Route 124 was reduced to alternating one lane by Harwich and Massachusetts State Police until the vehicles could be towed and the roadway cleared of debris. The crash is under investigation by Harwich Police.

Update: On Saturday, Harwich Police told Cape Wide News, the driver of the Jeep, Daniel Lane, 42, of Harwich was charged with operating under the influence of liquor (2nd offense), open container of alcohol in a vehicle. and possession of a Class E substance.
