One injured in vessel collision off Wareham

WAREHAM – At approximately 8 PM Sunday evening, Wareham Department of Natural Resources (DNR) along with the Wareham Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vessel accident off of Swifts Beach.

Upon arrival to the scene it was confirmed that only one person was onboard. The operator sustained minor injuries when his vessel collided with an unoccupied moored vessel. The victim was transported to shore for awaiting EMS personnel.

Due to the structural damages sustained to the moored vessel it was determined that immediate haul out would be necessary. TowBoatUS Cape Cod/Plymouth was notified and transported both vessels to an awaiting marina for immediate haul out.

The incident remains under investigation at this time by the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
