New details: One person seriously injured in Mashpee crash

MASHPEE – One person was seriously injured in a crash in Mashpee sometime before 10:30 PM Saturday. The single-vehicle crash happened on Great Oak Road at Quinn’s Way. Rescuers called for a MedFlight helicopter to land at Falmouth Hospital to fly the victim to a trauma center. A second person was also transported to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation. Mashpee Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Sunday morning, Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline told Cape Wide News that on Saturday at approximately 10:23 PM, the Mashpee Police Department received a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash on Great Oak Road in the area of Quinn’s Way. Upon arrival responding officers observed a black Range Rover with extremely heavy damage to the passenger side of the vehicle as a result of striking a tree. It appears the Range Rover was traveling eastbound on Great Oak Road and failed to negotiate a curve causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle striking the tree.

The male passenger was transported to Falmouth Hospital and later transported via MedFlight to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with what did appear to be life threatening injuries. The driver was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
