Updated: Overnight rains prompt closure of part of Route 28 in Yarmouth through Wednesday


YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that due to the heavy rain a portion of Route 28 in West Yarmouth is closed. Route 28 will be closed to all traffic between Town Brook Road and Camp Street. The road closure will be in effect for a majority of the day. Detour signs have been posted in the area to direct traffic around the road closure. Please seek alternate routes.

The National Weather Service reportedly nearly 3 inches of rain fell across the Cape on Monday.

Update from Yarmouth Police: ROAD CLOSURE for Through Traffic extended until 5:00am December 11, 2019. Due to last night’s rain event the contractor has been forced to extend the overnight pumping across Route 28 into the daylight hours.
Robert B Our Co. will be working on emergency bypass pumping at the Baxter Grist Mill Dam Restoration Project on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.

Route 28 from Town Brook Road to Camp Street will be closed until 5:00am December 11, 2019.
Route 28 East Bound traffic will be detoured at Town Brook Road to Buck Island Road to Camp Street.
Route 28 West Bound traffic will be detoured at Camp Street to Buck Island Road to Town Brook Road

Police Details will be on site at all times for traffic control & public assistance.
