PROVINCETOWN
– The overnight rain and wind combined with an astronomically high tide to open two new breaches in the revetment of the long troubled north lot at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. Evidence in the lot appears to show the seawater actually over-topped a large section of the lot. The breaching problem is ongoing and the National Park Service is reportedly working on a plan to move the lot back and up onto a dune. The timetable for any such project remains unclear. The lot is open with only a handful of spaces in the immediate area of the breaches cordoned off. All of the damage you see above occurred overnight. The area was fine when our crew was there yesterday.
