PAC arrests two for possession of illegal drugs

YARMOUTH
– Yarmouth Police report that on Friday at 7:40 p.m., Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Patrol Officer Nicholas Ambrosini observed a 2015 Dodge Charger commit a “No Left Turn” motor vehicle violation as it exited the parking lot of a pharmacy in West Yarmouth on to Route 28.

Officer Ambrosini stopped the vehicle on Route 28 at the South Sea Avenue intersection and encountered the male driver and female passenger. Both had acted suspiciously and during the stop the passenger tried to hide a cigarette box under her legs.

Patrol Officer Nicholas Giammarco arrived as back up and both subjects were removed from the vehicle. As they exited, 10 pills marked S 902–which is known to be Alprazolam—with the trade name of Xanax were located.

Alprazolam is a depressant in the Benzodiazepine class and it is among the most widely abused prescription drugs in the United States.

Also located in the vehicle were 3 Suboxone strips, two were in a sealed package and one was open.

Neither the driver or passenger had a prescription for the drugs and both subjects were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.
