Update: Pedestrian struck in Falmouth dies

FALMOUTH – The Falmouth Police Department reports that a pedestrian who was struck by a car in Falmouth Saturday succumbed to his injuries at Falmouth Hospital.

The accident occurred about 6:50 p.m. in the area of 1205 Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151).  The vehicle involved, a 2006 Lexus RX400H, was traveling west in the area of Cape Cod Church on Route 151 operated by a 69-year-old female resident of Falmouth. The pedestrian was a 57-year-old male from Braintree. Several witnesses on scene indicated the pedestrian was walking in the middle of the road when he was struck.

The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was transported by Falmouth Fire Rescue ambulance to Falmouth Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.

The section of Route 151 where the accident occurred was completely closed to non-emergency vehicles for approximately 4 1/2 hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Systems unit.
