Pedestrian struck in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH – A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a car in Yarmouth sometime after 7 PM Friday evening. The crash happened on Route 28 by Bass Rivers Liquors. The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. A second ambulance was also called to the scene but it was unclear if a second person may have been struck. Yarmouth Police are investigating the incident. Further details were not immediately available.

Update from Yarmouth Police: On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 7:12 PM, Yarmouth Police Officers and Firefighters responded to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at 931 Route 28 in South Yarmouth.

First responders arrived and provided emergency medical services to a 67-year-old man who lives nearby on Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis suffering from injuries that were not life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking across Route 28 from south to north–not in a crosswalk–and was struck by a westbound 2016 Jeep Patriot operated by a 25-year-old woman from Old Main Street in South Yarmouth.

Yarmouth Police Crash Reconstruction Officers and members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit are conducting a follow-up investigation.
