MASHPEE
– Mashpee Firefighters responded to an pickup vs pole crash in front of 202 Mashpee Neck Road about 7:40 Saturday evening. A Cotuit Rescue was requested, as Mashpee units were at an underground electrical fire at 483 Great Neck Road South.

The crash occurred when a Ford Ranger pickup truck went off the road, struck the utility pole and ended up in some trees. The driver was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation.

Eversource was called to the scene to secure the power. About 200 customers lost service because of the crash. The road is expected to be closed for some time while repairs are made.

The Mashpee Police Department is investigating the crash.

Meanwhile, the fire on Great Neck Road reportedly began in an underground electrical service to the house at that location. The power was cut but crews had to check the interior of the house to make sure no electrical surges had started any fires.
