Police arrest MV operator at road race starting line in Brewster

BREWSTER
From Brewster Police: On Saturday, August 10th, just prior to the start of the Brew Run Road Race, the operator of a blue Dodge minivan drove the vehicle into a parking lot that had been closed with traffic cones and police tape. After running over several cones, a police officer on detail, along with several people preparing for the run, were quickly able to get the operator to stop.

After a brief investigation, it was determined that the operator, April M. Keane, 42, of Hampton, NH, was intoxicated. Officers placed the woman under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor, operating negligently to endanger, and marked lanes violation. Keane was transported to the police station where she was later bailed. The case is scheduled to be arraigned in Orleans District Court Monday morning (August 12th).

This incident happened as over 1200 runners, plus spectators were gathering near the starting line.

Thankfully, as a result of the quick action of the officers working and some bystanders, the situation was handled quickly and no one was injured.
