Police arrest Dennis Port robbery suspect

DENNIS PORT – At approximately 11:28 p.m. Sunday, Dennis police officers were dispatched to the area of the 7-11 Store on Route 28 in West Harwich to assist with a report of an attempted armed robbery.

As Dennis officers were arriving in the area, a 911 call came from the Speedway Gas Station at 505 Route 28, Dennis Port, reporting that the store had just been robbed. Officer Brendan Niemisto, who was in the area of the Speedway gas station, stopped a male subject who matched the description of the suspect for both the Harwich 7-11 attempted robbery and the Speedway robbery.

During the subsequent investigation Dennis Police K9 Officer Henry Jessop and his K9 partner Bodo conducted a search of the area near the Speedway gas station and located a weapon matching the description of one used in the robbery.

Officers continued the investigation and found that the subject whom Officer Niemisto had stopped, Christopher Gaspar, 30, of Dennis Port, was involved in the robbery. He was placed under arrest and charged with armed robbery.

Gaspar was held on bail overnight at the Dennis Police Department and was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in the Orleans District Court.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted Dennis Police in the investigation.
