Review of construction projects in Brewster

BREWSTER – The Brewster Police Department reports that the Route 6A paving project is moving into its next phase beginning May 9. Lawrence Lynch Corporation will begin milling the roadway from the Dennis town line to Tubman Road. That work should take about a week and will be followed by paving of that section.

Detours will be put in place and detail officers will assist motorists who need access to the area. All businesses along the route will be accessible. Those who can avoid 6A are encouraged to seek another route.

MassDOT is managing the project and reports that the current sidewalk work is expected to be complete by early June. All work will cease by mid June and any remaining work will then resume after Labor Day.

In addition to the work going on along Route 6A, there are several other construction projects in Brewster that may impact travel. These projects include:

  • Underpass Road/Snow Road: The worst is over for this project, however, some work will continue to create room for a bike lane and new sidewalks. Underpass Road will be open and usable for this Sunday’s Brewster in Bloom Parade.
  • Brewster Ladies Library: While the parking lot construction is still underway, parking for the library is behind the Brewster Baptist Church with access coming into the entrance for the church and exiting the old library entrance. There is signage in the area directing motorists. This work should be completed by Memorial Day.
  • Linnell Landing: The landing will be closed for the next few weeks while drainage and parking lot repairs are made. This project will be completed by May 27.
  • Crosby Parking: New parking in the area of the old tennis courts is in the permitting process. This project will add approximately 20 new spots for parking for beach access and Crosby Mansion access. Current access to Crosby Mansion and the beach will not be impacted by this project.
  • Fisherman’s Landing at Sheep Pond: The landing is being reconfigured but there are a few spots available for visitors during construction.
