Rollover crashes reported in Falmouth, Yarmouth, Bourne, Harwich

FALMOUTH – A vehicle rolled over  on its roof in the median of Route 28 sometime before 3 PM. The crash happened north of Brick Kiln Road. The driver was taken to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation. Falmouth Police are investigating the crash and posted that this is a possible hit and run crash. Please contact them or Massachusetts State Police if you witnessed the crash.


YARMOUTH – A van and a VW sedan collided causing the van to roll on its side on Route 28 by the Lighthouse Landing plaza shortly before 3 PM. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. The crash is under investigation by Yarmouth Police.

Statement from Yarmouth Police: On Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 3 PM, the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to rollover crash on Route 28 in South Yarmouth.

First Responders arrived and found a Ford Van on its side in the middle of the eastbound lane.

An investigation conducted by Patrol Officer Lou Nickinello, Jr. found that a 2017 VW Passat—operated by a 50-year-old Centerville woman—had left its westbound travel lane and struck the eastbound 2012 Ford van.
Fortunately no one was seriously injured and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The woman, Lara M. Cormia, who was observed to be looking down and not paying attention while driving, has been cited for Failure to stay within Marked Travel Lanes and Operating to Endanger.

BOURNE – A third rollover crash was reported at the West Rotary in Bourne just before 5 PM. No serious injuries were reported but evening commuter traffic was affected in the area. Bourne Police are investigating the crash.

HARWICH – A vehicle reportedly went off Route 6 just west of Exit 11 and rolled on its side shortly after 5 PM. The driver was able to extricate and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. Evening commute traffic was heavily backed up in the area. The crash is under investigation by State Police.
