HARWICH – On Monday evening at approximately 10:40 PM, Harwich Police and Harwich Fire responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle crash at the roundabout on Route 39.
First responding Police units reported a vehicle had left the roadway and rolled over trapping the driver inside. Harwich Fire responded and after an intensive extrication operation they were able to free the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was transported to Hyannis airport via Harwich ambulance where he was transferred to a medical helicopter and flown to Rhode Island hospital.
The crash remains under investigation at this time but it is clear that excessive speed is a contributing factor.
