SANDWICH – Sandwich Police report that recently, they have been asked about local school safety. Since 2010 the Sandwich Police School Resource Officer program has been uniformed and in marked vehicles for several reasons, but mostly for visibility. We have been involved with training school staff members, regular school safety group meetings, implementing security measures and training our personnel. There are other aspects of response training and equipment which have been implemented as well.
While no plan is complete, Sandwich Police have been working towards providing the best possible public safety for the students and staff in our schools.
What police ask of you is: If you see or hear something, SAY SOMETHING. Situation can be interrupted with early intervention. What you learn may be from word of mouth, texting or social media. they ask that you contact the police as soon as you learn information which creates a concern. Working together, we can keep Sandwich safe!
