Sandwich police conduct active shooting training in local school

SANDWICH – The Sandwich Police Department recently conducted active shooter training at the Henry T. Wing School.

Officers trained using their ballistic vests and helmets, as well as “SIMMS” ammunition.

“SIMMS” ammunition can be used during the training in the firearms they carry on duty.

They are projectiles with colored soap, which allows for realistic scenarios so law enforcement can keep their skills at a high level.

Lt. Josh Bound and School Resource Officer Cabral are seen suited up in protective gear ready to respond to the scenario which was created by the Sandwich Police Firearm’s unit.
