Sandwich Police resuscitate man who went into cardiac arrest at Citizens Academy


SANDWICH
– The Sandwich Police Department was holding week four of the Sandwich Citizen’s Police Academy last night at the Sandwich High School. At the end of the class, an eighty two year old class member started experiencing respiratory distress. Soon after Lieutenant Bound requested an ambulance respond to the scene, the male party went into Cardiac Arrest. Lieutenant Bound and Sergeant Lawrence, with help from the Sandwich Citizens Police Academy Alumni, started CPR and respiratory breaths on the individual. The individual regained consciousness prior to arrival of the ambulance. The Sandwich Fire Department transported the individual to Cape Cod Hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

The Sandwich Police Department supports members of the public in becoming familiar with CPR and getting certified. If anyone encounters anyone in respiratory distress or Cardiac Arrest please call 911 immediately.
