September 11th ceremonies slated across the Cape

CAPE COD – September 11th will mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Many communities are planning remembrance ceremonies. We’ll update this story as more events are announced.

PROVINCETOWN – Provincetown Police, Fire and EMS personnel, along with representatives from Coast Guard Station Provincetown will remember those first responders and civilians who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington DC, Shanksville, PA.  Since 9/11, over 3,000 deaths have been directly attributed to those attacks.

The ceremony, which is an annual event, will be held at 11:00 am, Sunday September 11th, on Shankpainter Rd, Provincetown [between the Police and Fire Stations].

The pubic is cordially invited to attend.

WELLFLEET -The Wellfleet Fire and Police Departments will hold a short ceremony of remembrance to mark the 15th Anniversary of the attacks on America, on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

All members of the general public are invited to join us in marking this solemn anniversary of the attacks on our country. Fire and Police Department members will assemble in front of the fire station at 9:45 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Personnel will be available to assist those who wish to tour the fire station following the ceremony.

EASTHAM – On Sunday September 11, 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m., the Eastham Police and Fire Departments will be holding a joint ceremony in front of the Eastham Fire Department to commemorate the 911 attack. Fire Chief Kent Farrenkopf and Police Chief Edward Kulhawik are asking all residents and visitors to join them and their staff for this 10:00am ceremony and to remember and reflect on this infamous day in our countries history. Several thousand US citizens where killed including many Fire, Police and EMS workers.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 12:00 a.m. both agencies will be holding open houses and tours of their respective facilities with demonstrations of their equipment and operation, by several members of their staff.

Coffee and light pastries will be offered at both facilities.

YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Fire Department would like to invite the public to our Unveiling and Dedication Ceremony of their New 9/11 Memorial Site.

For the past 14 months the Yarmouth Firefighters have been volunteering their time to construct the Yarmouth Fire Department 9/11 Memorial Site. Through donations of time and money our site is now complete and ready for dedication.

HYANNIS – The Hyannis Fire Department will hold a 9/11 ceremony to honor those who lost their lives 15 years ago at 10 a.m. at the headquarters on High School Road.

BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Fire Department will hold a 9/11 ceremony on Route 6A at 9:55 a.m. and will include special prayers, music and reflection. Hope Hospice Interfaith chaplain Rabbi Deborah Mangan will hold a special prayer.

BREWSTER –  The Brewster Fire Department will hold a  9/11 Memorial Service on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Fire Department headquarters, 1657 Main Street.

CENTERVILLE – Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department invites you to a ceremony including the dedication of 9/11 steel. The event happens on the 11th at Centerville station 1 1875 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Centerville at 9:45 a.m.
