YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police have identified the operator of the motorcycle involved in a fatal crash Tuesday as Greg Straughn, 68, of Brewster.
The accident happened in West Yarmouth at Buck Island Road and Town Brook Road.
Yarmouth Police Officers arrived on scene and immediately secured the area and diverted the heavy summertime traffic.
Straughn was found deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Straughn was operating a gray 2004 Yamaha XVS motorcycle eastbound on Buck Island Road. Daniel M. Buckley, 68, of Yarmouth was operating a black 2010 Dodge Avenger northbound on Townbrook Road.
The preliminary reports indicate that Buckley stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded straight across when the collision occurred.
Yarmouth Police Officers are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Yarmouth Police Detective Division, the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team, The Massachusetts State Police, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
The Yarmouth Police Department deployed a drone as part of the crash reconstruction process.
