New details: Serious injuries reported after driver ejected in rollover crash in Sandwich

SANDWICH – One person was critically injured in a crash in Sandwich shortly before 7 PM Friday evening. According to reports, the vehicle went out of control and overturned ejecting the driver. MedFlight was not available due to weather so the victim was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. Sandwich Police called for a crash reconstruction unit to investigate the cause of the crash.

Sandwich Police released the following statement: The Sandwich Police Department is investigating a single car motor vehicle crash on Route 130 in the area of Burke Ln.
On Friday, April 16 at approximately 6:53 PM, the Sandwich Police responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of Burke Lane on Route 130 in Forestdale. The male operator, identified as a 41-year-old from Forestdale, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth by the Sandwich Fire Department. MedFlight was requested but was unavailable due to weather.

The Sandwich Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the crash. Route 130 is expected to be closed for several hours between Quaker Meetinghouse Road and Pimlico Pond Road while the investigation continues. The public is encouraged to seek alternate routes.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
