UPDATED: Serious injury reported at Eastham crash, traffic being detoured around Route 6

EASTHAM
– From Eastham Police: “On Wednesday at approximately 3:20 PM, the Eastham Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 6 at Kingsbury Beach Road for a motor vehicle crash. Once on location it was determined that one of the vehicle operators had serious and possibly life threatening injuries. The Eastham Fire and Rescue Department transported this operator to Cape Cod Hospital. The operator of the second vehicle was uninjured. A preliminary investigation showed that one of the vehicles, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, pulled out of a driveway onto Route 6 near the intersection of Kingsbury Beach Road. When pulling out, the Jeep was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck which was traveling north on Route 6. The pickup truck was also towing a boat. Route 6 southbound traffic was detoured onto Great Pond Road for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. One lane of Route 6 northbound traffic remained open. The crash is currently under investigation by the Eastham Police Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team. The Orleans, Wellfleet, and Chatham Police Departments assisted at the scene.”

The names of the vehicle operators are being withheld at this time to protect the privacy of the injured individual. More information will be released at a later time.

The crash happened less than 24 hours after another head-on crash in the same area.
