Sex offender arrested in Wareham for failing to report address change

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On the morning of Wednesday, October 24, at about 6:45 a.m. members of the Wareham Police Detective division arrested, Ronald Franklin, Jr. 58, of East Wareham, a Level 3 sex offender. Mr. Franklin was arrested for failing to provide an address change as a sex offender. Detectives discovered that Mr. Franklin was living at the Silver Lake Motel, in a different room then he registered under. He was brought to the Wareham Police station for processing and was arraigned at Wareham District Court later that morning.

Acting Police Chief John Walcek said, “Although Mr. Franklin only moved two rooms away, he failed to report that, and our detectives took immediate action when they obtained this information.” He further added, “Protecting our most vulnerable populations includes strict enforcement of individuals who do not register properly as sex offenders. Our detectives do an excellent job with this and will continue to vigorously enforce laws dealing with sex offenders.”
