HARWICH – Around 2 AM Monday, Harwich Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the area of 224 Oak Street for a reported structure fire. Further reports indicated a shed in the back yard of the residence was on fire. The report brought an automatic line response from Brewster and Dennis Fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved shed surrounded by a small stand of trees, approximately 50 feet from the rear of the residence. The fire was knocked down quickly by the first arriving firefighters as the shed was essentially burning to the ground and the walls that were still standing were pulled down to extinguish any other flames. Outside companies were dismissed and Harwich crews completed overhaul and final wet down, before returning to service within the hour. No injuries to civilians or fire crews were reported. The cause and origin is under investigation by Harwich Fire and Police.
