Sheriff’s Office to support Bourne Homeless for Holidays event

BOURNE – From Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office: The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office will again this year lend its support collecting donations for the Homeless for the Holidays drive in Bourne. All new toys and non-perishable food items received by the Sheriff’s Office will be delivered to Homeless for Holiday organizers at the collection site in Buzzards Bay.

Non-perishable food items and new toys can be dropped off in the lobby of the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, 6000 Sheriff’s Place, Bourne between the hours of 7:30 a.m. through 9 p.m. until Tuesday, December 4th. The December 4th drop-off date allows time for all collections to be distributed to homeless families in time for the holidays.

More than 70,000 pounds of food, 59,000 toys, and 24,000 food items have been collected by the Bourne Homeless for the Holidays organization since the first drive was conducted 14 years ago. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office is one of a growing list of law enforcement and public safety agencies throughout Cape Cod that have made this their holiday cause.
