Updated: Small fire doused at house in Eastham

EASTHAM – A small fire was reported in the rear of a residence in Eastham about 10:45 AM Tuesday. Firefighters responded Nauset Road near the northern terminus at Route 6. The fire had been knocked down when firefighters arrived but they checked for any further fire extension into the building. No injuries  were reported.

From Eastham Fire: This morning at approximately 10:58 AM, Eastham Fire Department was dispatched to a single-family home for a reported structure fire. The first arriving engine found smoke coming from the rear of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the exterior of the house.

Fortunately, 12 department members were completing medical training within the station, allowing multiple apparatus to respond and prevent any further damage.

Units from Orleans, Wellfleet and Harwich were dispatched on an automatic response but were returned shortly thereafter.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
