Small fire prompts evacuation of CVS in Sandwich

SANDWICH – A small fire prompted the evacuation of the CVS on Quaker Meetinghouse Road around 4:30 PM Sunday. A computer unit reportedly caught fire in the pharmacy area causing a smoke condition in the store. Firefighters quickly put out the fire and ventilated the building. No injuries were reported.

Statement from Sandwich Fire: On October 20, 2019 at 4:48pm the Sandwich Fire Department received a 911 call for an electrical fire at the CVS Pharmacy on Quaker Meetinghouse Road. Sandwich Fire Department initial response included 3 Engines and a Command vehicle for a total of 10 Firefighters. The initial Engine came from the new fire station on Cotuit Road and arrived immediately and found a computer monitor that had caught fire.

The fire was extinguished and computer removed. The building was ventilated of smoke and the store was allowed to reopen. There were no injuries reported and the Wiring Inspector responded to the scene to assist. Firefighters were on scene for 45 minutes assisting with extinguishment and ventilation. No injuries were reported.
