State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 6 in Harwich


HARWICH
– From Mass State Police: Saturday at about 2:15 a.m., Troopers from the State Police–Yarmouth Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash Route 6 west that resulted in the death of the operator.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Gary Turgiss, indicates a tractor trailer cab, driven by David Marceline, 46, of Harwich, was traveling Route 6 west, when for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control and swerved toward the eastbound lane hitting the median strip. Marceline attempted to correct the vehicle by swerving back into the westbound lane, but traveled off the right side of the road and rolled over. Marceline was determined to be deceased at the scene.

Both west and eastbound lanes were closed from Exit 10 to 9 for approximately five hours. Members of Harwich Police, Fire and EMS, Dennis Police, Barnstable Police and MassDOT assisted.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
