Structure Fire at Edgewater Beach Resort in Dennis Port

– Dennis Fire reports that on at 12:20 AM on Saturday, they responded a reported structure fire at the Edgewater Beach Resort North Building, 95 Chase Avenue in Dennis Port. An occupant of the resort unit reported the building was on fire. First arriving Dennis Fire units arrived on scene and declared a working fire with fire showing from the exterior of the structure, roof area and cellar crawl space in Unit # 705. The single story building, with 14 occupied units at the corner Chase Ave & and Belmont Rd, is adjacent the Harwich Town line. A Harwich engine arrived almost simultaneously with the Dennis units to assist attacking the fire on an automatic response assignment. Occupants of all the other units were evacuating the building and emergency responders ensured everyone made it safely.

Firefighters attacked the main body of fire and had the bulk of fire knocked down within about 15 minutes with firefighters opening up the interior floors, ceilings, roof and exterior sections of the building searching for hidden pockets of fire.

The fire caused heavy fire, heat and smoke damage to Unit # 705, with smoke damage to adjacent units. 

There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters and the fire cause is under investigation by the Dennis Fire Inspector.
