FALMOUTH – Two family members accused of interfering with and assaulting police officers at Friday’s incident on Ashley Court in Falmouth where two police officers were shot were arraigned in Falmouth District Court Monday.
Kimberly Koval the mother of shooting suspect Malik Koval and her other son Marcus Maseda were arrested and charged with obstruction of justice; assault and battery on a police officer; and interfering with the duties of a police officer.

In court, bail was raised on both suspects to $7,500. Both heads posted $5,000 bail over the weekend but that was raised Monday to $7,500. The prosecutor had asked for bail of $25,000 stating the nature of the alleged crime.
The prosecutor alleges that both tried to interfere with officers as they were trying to restrain Malik. They said both at one point allegedly attacked and jumped on one of the officers. Their defense attorney denied that accusation and said in fact the mother Kimberly Koval tried to hold Malik down and pushed the gun away while police were responding. In the courtroom there was a show of force from several members of the Falmouth Police Department including Falmouth Police Chief Ed Dunne.
