HYANNIS – A possible swimmer in distress prompted a response from Hyannis Fire and Barnstable Police to Kalmus Beach around 4:15 p.m. A man reportedly went off the jetty at the beach and swam to Egg Island. The man was picked up by the Hyannis fire boat and brought to the School Street docks where EMTs evaluated him. Further details were not immediately available.
