FALMOUTH – A tanker truck carrying diesel fuel went off the road and struck a utility pole in Falmouth sometime after 9:30 AM. The crash happened on Sandwich Road at Turner Road. The driver was not seriously injured. Fuel leaked from the saddle tank on the cab of the truck but the tanker appeared intact. Eversource cut power to about 1,000 customers in the area to make the scene safe. Utility crews were able to reduce that number to about 150 a short time later. Falmouth Police reported that Sandwich Road, between John Parker Road and Thomas B. Landers Road as well as Turner Road between Sandwich Road and Thomas B. Landers Road would be closed for an extended time. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
