Three arrested on drug charges after leaving methadone clinic and crashing

YARMOUTHFrom Yarmouth Police: On Thursday, September 12, 2019 at approximately 7:43AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Ryan Murphy was dispatched to the Habit Opco Methadone Clinic at 31 Workshop Road in South Yarmouth for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, Officer Murphy spoke with the operator of a Toyota taxi who reported that he and a fare were leaving the parking lot of the Methadone Clinic and attempting to take a left turn onto Workshop Road when a vehicle taking a right turn into the parking lot sideswiped the left side of his vehicle.

The taxi driver also reported that the vehicle then stopped and he observed the male operator just staring off into the distance and that he was stumbling all over the place and appeared impaired.

The driver also told reported that prior to police arrival, the driver told him “I’ll give you a $100 if you tell the police my aunt was driving.”

Patrol Officer Murphy then encountered the driver of a gray Chrysler Sebring who was impaired and had trouble forming compete sentences. His movements were extremely slow and deliberate and a few times while speaking with him he began to “nod off.” He also continued to remain extremely unsteady on his feet and had to rest up against his car numerous times to avoid falling over.

An initial search of the driver and the vehicle located multiple needles, a burnt spoon, a lighter, as well as cotton Q-tips. All items commonly used for illegal drug use.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also found to be impaired and nodding off and unable to form complete sentences.

A check further located numerous medications on them and in the vehicle without a prescription for them.

A search the rest of the vehicle located numerous additional pieces of drug paraphernalia including needles, burnt spoons and cans, Q-Tips, and cotton balls.

All three subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Yarmouth Police Station and processed.

The vehicle was towed by Mid Cape Collision and impounded

During the booking process, all parties continued to “nod off” and remained unsteady on their feet.

All three eventually completed the booking process and were transported to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment this morning.

Edward J. Davis, 28, of Wellfleet was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, possession of a Class A substance, operating negligently to endanger, and operating without a license. Amanda Ashley Connolly, 28, of Stoughton, MA was charged with possession of a Class C substance, and possession of a Class E substance (3 counts). Taylor S. Cox, 32, of Stoughton, MA was charged with possession of a Class C substance, and possession of a Class E substance.
