UPDATED: Texting blamed for crash that injured three, one seriously in Dennis

DENNIS – From Dennis Police: On Friday at approximately 11:47 AM, the Dennis Police Department received 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Route 134 in the area of the Dennis Senior Center. On arrival officers found a two vehicle crash in the north bound lane of Route 134.

The crash investigation determined that a 2018 Toyota Rav4, operated by an 81-year-old male resident of Teaticket, was traveling north on Route 134 and had slowed/stopped to turn left into the entrance to the Dennis Senior Center. The second vehicle, a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, being operated north behind the Toyota by a 24-year-old man from Dennis failed to stop and drove into the back of the Toyota Rav4.

The operator and a female passenger from the Toyota Rav4 as well as the operator of the Chrysler PT Cruiser were transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Dennis Fire Department with mutual aid provided by the Yarmouth Fire Department.

The operator of the Chrysler PT Cruiser was issued a motor vehicle citation for Texting Prohibited during Operation.
