DENNIS – Torrential downpours turned some streets in Dennis into rivers Wednesday afternoon. Route 28 at Ferry Street was reported impassible. Flooding was also reported on Upper County Road at Crestwood Lane with one vehicle stuck in the water. Another flooding problem was reported on Great Western Road just west of South Gages Way.

Flooding was also reported in parts of Harwich where firefighters assisted in pumping out several basements, and Depot Street was impassible near Stonewood Products as town employees attempted to pump the water off the roadway.

The National Weather Service reported 1-2 inches of rain fell in the area within an hour.

Motorists should seek alternate routes. Do not drive through flooded roads. “Turn around don’t drown”
