Traffic stop leads to arrest for cocaine and fentanyl possession

YARMOUTHFrom Yarmouth Police: On Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 6:16 PM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Connor Burnham stopped a red GMC Sierra for erratic operation on Old Main Street in South Yarmouth.

Patrol Officer Alex Xiarhos arrived to provide assistance and the Police Officers observed in plain view syringes on top of the center console as well as empty corner cut baggies on the driver’s side floor board.

Proactive Anti-Crime Officer Nick Ambrosini responded to the scene with Drug Enforcement K9 Gauge.

Two small baggies of cocaine and fentanyl were located inside the vehicle

The driver, Christopher L. Weigert, 44, of Hyannis was placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters, processed, and subsequently released on personal recognizance after paying the $40 Bail Commissioner fee.

Weigert was due in the Barnstable District Court Wednesday for arraignment on charges of possession of a Class A substance (fentanyl), and possession of a Class B substance (cocaine).
