WAREHAM – From Wareham Police: On Tuesday, October 2, at about 8:45 p.m. Wareham Police were requested to respond to 394 Main Street for a report of individuals drinking alcohol in the stairwell of the building. At the scene Officer Eric Machado spoke to a group of individuals with the intent of asking them to go back into their apartment and quiet down. One person in the group told Officer Machado that they would not quiet down and said the when the police left she was going to start an altercation with a neighbor. She further escalated yelling, “Lock me up”. Finally after failed attempts to quell the disturbance, the female, Reina Santiago, 37, of Wareham was placed under arrest by Officer Machado. While attempting to place Ms. Santiago in custody a second individual, Christopher Pires, 34, of Wareham placed himself between Officer Machado and Santiago. He was ordered several times to step aside, however he refused and was placed under arrest by Officer Jennifer Braley. Both subjects were charged with, disturbing the peace. They are due to appear in Wareham District Court on Wednesday.
