Two arrested for fentanyl in Eastham

EASTHAM – The Eastham Police Department reports that on Friday at approximately 8:20 p.m. a motor vehicle stop was conducted involving a Volvo 850 on Route 6, in Eastham. This traffic stop was the result of a three-month investigation by members of the Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown Police Departments into heroin distribution on the Lower Cape.

The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Max Stone, 38, of Eastham, and Katherine Carey-Benton, 34, of Truro. A subsequent search of the vehicle, and its occupants, produced five plastic baggies, which contained a combined weight of approximately 12.5 grams of a brown powdery substance. This substance was field tested and showed positive for the presence of fentanyl. Also seized were a small amount of U.S. currency, two cellular phones and other evidence of illegal narcotics sales.

Both Stone and Carey-Benton were placed under arrest by the Eastham Police Department for trafficking in fentanyl. They were booked at the Eastham Police Department, held on $3,000 bail and scheduled to be arraigned at the Orleans District Court on Monday morning.

The Truro Police Department K9 unit, The Cape Cod Drug Task Force, and the New England State Police Information Network (NESPIN) also assisted with this investigation.
