Two arrested in separate incidents in Wareham Thursday

WAREHAM
– From Wareham Police: On Thursday, September 13, at about 5:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to CVS, Main Street for a reported disturbance. Arriving at the scene Officer Nate Aronson observed a male being pushed back by two other people in the middle of Main Street. The male they were pushing back was waving his arms wildly to a male in the parking lot of CVS. Many people were in the area observing this disturbance, including small children. As Off. Aronson approached the trio in the street one male fled, however was found hiding in a shed to the rear of 394 Main Street by Officer Eric Machado. After that male was brought back for investigation of the incident, he became irate and started yelling loudly. He refused to comply with officers, and was advised he was being placed under arrest. The male resisted arrest and was handcuffed after a struggle with the two officers. This male, later identified as Christopher Hardiman, 38, of Fairhaven was charged with, disorderly conduct, subsequent offense, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. During the arrest, Cody Tuomala,18, of Wareham, interfered with officers when they were struggling with Hardiman, and refused to back off when order to do so. After Mr. Hardiman was secured, Off. Aronson advised Tuomala he was under arrest, however he fled the area after shouting an expletive at the officer. Wareham Police will be seeking a warrant for his arrest at Wareham District Court on Friday, for the charges of, disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer, and resisting arrest.

Acting Police Chief John Walcek said, “While these charges are considered misdemeanors, it is this type of behavior which ruins the quality of life for our good citizens. The Wareham Police Department remains committed to enforcing the law, especially laws designed to protect people’s safety and peace.”

Later at about 11:45 p.m., Officer Michael Phinney observed a male party looking into vehicles at the lot of Gia Auto Sales, 2888 Cranberry Highway. Officer James White arrived to assist and approached the male, who started to walk away, but stopped when Off. Phinney pulled in the lot cutting off an avenue of flight. The male identified himself as Darryl Green, 46, of Wareham. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Mr. Green had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, from Falmouth District Court and was placed in custody. The building and vehicles were found to be secure.

Acting Chief Walcek said, “This is just another example of our officers’ diligence while on patrol. A wanted person looking in cars, at a closed business, late at night was observed by officers and placed under arrest.”
